Ontario Council for International Cooperation

How to Paint a Conversation

In 2023, the number of active podcasts worldwide was somewhere between three and four million. Not surprising, many amazing episodes never manage to find their audience.

For their own podcast, the Ontario Council for International Cooperation chose to use compelling graphics make sure their message cut through the busy marketplace of ideas.

The OCIC’s Tapestry 2030 podcast tells stories of international cooperation and partners working toward sustainable development. This is tough to put across in a space less than a square inch, but Amanda Schutz, Curio Creative Director, was up for the challenge.

“I wanted to make sure the people I worked with truly felt heard, so I walked them through my entire process at weekly Zoom meetings,” says Amanda.

In total, Amanda illustrated 13 different scenes, which were enthusiastically received by the client (“they hung my illustration of Haiti up in their headquarters!” she beams).

Tapestry 2030 is available for streaming today via the OCIC website (and on your favourite podcast service, too)!
