It is the one of the keys to life on Earth, and we rarely think about it until it’s not there.
Air has been at the centre of Melissa Pockar’s work at Moreso Communications, with whom Alberta Airsheds collaborate to advance their mission of “working together for clean air.” To visually communicate the important work of these regional air quality networks, Moreso has partnered with Curio since 2018.
“When we started working with Airsheds, we wanted to bring visual consistency to their existing materials,” explains Curio’s Senior Designer, Graham Johnson. “Our top priorities were to establish branding guidelines for all airsheds and to use illustration to simplify complex ideas.”
Though we’ve designed dozens of projects for Alberta Airsheds (including reports, infographics, explainer videos, and web graphics), Curio’s most memorable accomplishment to date was animating a deer’s ear. Not kidding.
“Our team worked really hard to make sure our animations were as lifelike as possible, and we got really stuck trying to get that ear to wiggle,” says Amanda Schutz, Creative Director. “When we figured it out, it felt like we’d cracked the genome.”
